Hey! Name’s Erik. I’m an early 20something theatre and English major at a small liberal arts college in the Midwest (Let’s call it Westish for fun). I’ve written plays for about 2-3 years, although only seriously for about 6 months; I have done a variety of other things around / on / above the stage. I’m wrapping up a workshop now that will conclude in a festival this weekend (8/3/2012). In the fall, I’m attending the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland after spending a month in London under a generous fellowship from Westish’s English Department studying playwright Harold Pinter. READ or SEE HIS STUFF.
This is my second tumblr, and will be a more formal creature about theatre experiences, writing, good literature (meant broadly: any art that depends on writing) and this fall’s travel abroad. And probably definitely food, given my title and my proclivity towards things that are tasty.
The first thing on the agenda is 31 plays / 31 days — I and a few friends (and >300 other playwrights) are writing 31 plays within the 31 days of August. Of course, this starts on Wednesday. Terrifying, honestly. I’ll be blogging about the experience (intercut with travel stuff come the 13th of August on).
If you have stories / photos / etc. to share relating to writing, a life in theatre, or food, please don’t hesitate. Submissions are open! Also, I try to give thoughtful responses to everything I get in my inbox, so that’s open too. And if you want to see my personal taste in tumblin’, head on over to A Capital Ship.
Cheers!
